kb!ce 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker Review
The kb!ce 2.0 Nugget Ice Maker is a solid nugget ice maker at an affordable price. This nugget ice maker dispenses nugget ice right into your glass without needing an ice scoop. The nugget ice is soft and chewable, and it absorbs the flavor of your beverage so you can enjoy it right to the last piece of ice.
I absolutely love the concept of the kb!ce self-dispensing nugget ice maker. I used the original model for years and was one of the first websites to review it.
Having the ability to have nugget ice dispensed into your glass is a huge deal. No messing with scoops, drains, water lines, or anything. It’s a simple system that works. I just love making Chick-fil-A ice at home.
Of course, Nugget Ice, Chick-fil-A, or Sonic Ice is a big deal. This type of ice is soft, chewable ice that absorbs the flavor of your beverage. It’s often called the “good ice” because of its texture, size, and softness. Nugget ice is a lot more challenging to make than regular bullet-shaped ice from a portable ice maker. It’s produced by compacting shaved ice together in the size of a small nugget. For a portable ice maker to produce nugget ice is something, and the ability to self-dispense brings it to a whole new level.
This was when I was so pumped when I heard of the second generation of this portable ice maker. I was also excited when I got a sample. I have used it for several months and am eager to give you my full review here.

The Design of the kb!ce 2.0 Self-Dispensing Nugget Ice Maker
The Design of the kb!ce 2.0 is similar to the original.
It’s made from plastic but has a stainless steel front control panel. On the front of the ice maker, you’ll notice your three buttons: make ice, dispense, and clean. The original kb!ce nugget ice maker had more of a beveled front panel, and this newest version drops the bevel and gives it more of a flat, clean design.
The bottom front cover hides the water reservoir, and you’ll notice a small push cap where you insert the funnel and use it to fill it with water. The bottom panel also attaches by magnets and can be detached by just pulling it away from the ice maker. The previous version had two places to add water (which was unnecessary), and the new one now only has one on the left.
On the left side of the ice maker, you’ll find your venting; on the back, you find the water hoses used for draining the unit.
This model has an upgraded fan to lower the unit’s internal temperature, and It also has a larger ice production capacity (32 pounds of nugget ice each day), which means you’ll always have ice available.
This portable ice maker isn’t silent; you will notice a slight hum, especially when the compressor starts, but it’s not terrible. I love that you fill the water from the front of the unit, so you can slide it under your cabinets if you need to save space.
You have a catch tray at the bottom of the ice maker, which is used to catch the ice when it randomly falls from the unit. The precious ice maker couldn’t catch the ice because it was flat at the top of the drip tray. This version of the catch tray is deeper, but to be honest, when the ice falls from the ice maker, it doesn’t land in the drip tray anyway.
This nugget ice maker isn’t the most premium nugget ice maker on the market today, but that’s reflected in the price. It’s very similar in design to the previous model, with a few upgrades. It’s still a pretty bulky ice maker, and you’ll need a lot of room on your countertop for it to stay. I mean, stay; it’s heavy enough you wouldn’t want to move it around.
Using the kb!ce 2.0 Self-Dispising Nugget Ice Maker
The first thing you need to do after purchasing the kb!ce is to fill the water reservoir with water.
You’ll want the ice maker to be plugged in, and you’ll hear it beep when it’s full. You’ll get a small funnel with the unit for filling; it’s located inside the water reservoir with your paperwork.
Next, press the “make ice” button, and the ice maker will start the ice-making process.
It will take some time for the ice maker to fill with ice. You’ll hear water running, the compressor coming on, and then ice falling into the storage bin.
You must hit the “dispense” button when you want some nugget ice.
You’ll get a glass filled with crunchy nugget ice in seconds. You don’t need to use a scoop or touch the ice with your hands. It falls right into your glass and is ready for your favorite beverage.
The ice maker works like a charm. It’s a great concept; the new upgrades make a big difference.
