The other day, I purchased a new pair of Shady Rays Polarized Sunglasses. Before I begin, I must tell you that I’m a sunglasses geek. I love all types of sunglasses, which is why I was so pumped to get my Shady Rays.
If you haven’t heard of Shady Rays, it’s not your usual sunglasses company. They were founded on the concept that we’re hard on our sunglasses. I get it. I have broken or scratched my fair share of sunglasses. This makes Shady Rays awesome – you break your sunglasses or lose them, and they will replace them.
It’s like what they say in their slogan – Live hard. We got you.

So what makes Shady Rays so unique? They offer you nationwide free shipping, 30-day returns, limited lifetime craftsmen warranty, and lost and broken replacements. They also offer prescription glasses! On their website, you’ll find great sunglasses, prescription or not, and they’re all packed together neatly.

So, what’s the catch? There isn’t any (well, maybe a small catch for broken or lost sunglasses). If there is a defect, they will replace the sunglasses without any question, and if you break or lose them, you pay a processing fee for new ones (only twice per sunglasses purchase). It’s quite simple.
Country | Processing Fee |
United States | USD 9.89 |
Australia | AUD 24.00 |
Canada | CAD 24.00 |
United Kingdom | GBP 13.00 |
All other International Orders | USD 17.99 |
Every pair of sunglasses you purchase provides 10 meals to someone in need. This is a great cause. Just think about it, every purchase from Shady Rays donates to the Global Foodbanking Network – which is pretty awesome.
As I mentioned at the top of this article, I recently purchased a pair of the Shady Rays Sunglasses and gave them a try. I purchased from their signature series – Emerald Ice Polarized. If you’re thinking about purchasing sunglasses from Shady Rays, then this article will help you.

Quality and Design
The glasses that I purchased were a quality product. It came with durable clear plastic frames with metal hinges. They have a simple design and great optics.
I played softball with these glasses the other day, and they helped me see the ball better in the bright sun, and trust me, I need all the help I can get.
The frames are stylish as well. Several people asked me where I got my sunglasses, so it seems they stuck out in a good way.
I found with the clear plastic frames that they got dirty over time. Lots of dirt, hairspray residue and other things caked onto the arms of the glasses, but with a little cleaning, it was good as new.
The sunglasses were comfortable to wear and were a nice fit. They didn’t feel bulky at all, and they didn’t feel uncomfortable or hurt after wearing them for a while.

Overall, I found that the sunglasses were made well and looked great. As far as quality is concerned, they may not be on par with Ray-Bans and Oakleys, but they are a good pair of sunglasses.
Worry and Stree Free
So, here’s the deal.
I owned these glasses for about a year, and the polarization on the lens started to peel off. I am not sure if it was something I did or a defect in the product.
I snapped a couple of pictures of the lens and sent them off to Shady Rays for inspection. Within a few days, I had a brand new pair of sunglasses on my porch. Wow! Let’s see Ray-Bans or Oakleys match that service.

Below is the email I received from Shady Rays just a couple of hours after sending them the replacement request.
Awesome! Thanks for sending the info, I was able to locate your original order and I’ve got that replacement order started for you. Shortly, please follow the link in that email to complete your order. Once finished, you shades will be on their way to you soon!
You’re on vacation, and all you do is worry about getting your sunglasses scratched. You don’t enjoy yourself because you don’t want to break those new sunglasses – we’ve all been there, and it’s normal. This is why Shady Rays sunglasses are better and why these sunglasses will be the last pair that you’ll own. You can finally enjoy your vacation and not worry about those new sunglasses.
Shady Rays has you covered.
Is It Worth the Price?
I have purchased expensive sunglasses before and ended up breaking them or losing them. This was always a bad habit for me, so I decided not to purchase expensive glasses before. I would buy a pair of sunglasses at a dollar store or Walmart, so I wasn’t afraid of losing or breaking them.
Shady Rays was the first “expensive” pair of sunglasses I have purchased in years. A pair of sunglasses will cost about $60-$100, depending on the type and style. Yep, this is significantly more, but it’s a better deal.
Cheap sunglasses hurt the ears, feel uncomfortable, and are not polarized. Expensive sunglasses are more stylish, comfortable to wear, and polarized, so it eliminates the glare of the sun. People have a problem with forking over $100 for a pair of sunglasses because they can get damaged or lost. This makes Shady Rays the best investment for sunglasses – you have their lost or broken protection.

Expensive sunglasses are great, but not worrying about them getting lost or broken is even better.
Conclusion
That said, I would recommend Shady Rays for all your sunglasses needs. Their quality, design, and protection plan make purchasing their products a good investment. No need to purchase uncomfortable cheap sunglasses again.
