The company has it’s early roots of the Magic Chef company beings in St. Loius. John Ringe, a German immigrant, began a tin-shop in St. Louis. In 1870, the business began to do well, so John Ringe decided that he better take on a partner. The business sold housewares, early washing machines, and stoves that they called “quick meals”. The partner of the company, George Kahle, convinced his brother in laws to get into the action and begin manufacturing stoves. Soon all four men had created two corporations – quick Meal Stove Company and the Ringen Stove Company.
The quick growth during the 1880s and ’90s soon began to turn heads. This lead to the merger of eight other stove company’s in the St. Louis area.
In 1929, it began using the brand name Magic Chef. The name Magic Chef was very successful as an oven and stove company that soon the American Stove Company changed its name to Magic Chef 1951.
