It’s incredible how smart our world around us is becoming.
We have smart toothbrushes, toilets (yes, it’s a thing), smart lights, ice makers, thermostats, and of course, smart televisions. There are great features that come with any smart TV (Panasonic or Samsung), but one of the best features is the apps that are available.
In this article, I want to discuss the apps available to you on a Panasonic Smart TV, specifically a Panasonic Smart Vierra TV.
Panasonic offers a decent amount apps already pre-installed on your TV. The most commonly used apps should already be present on your TV.

For the most part, your Panasonic Smart TV should be ready to right out of the box.
How To Install Apps on a Panasonic Smart TV
It’s really easy to install apps on your Panasonic Smart TV. How this is done actually depends on which version of the TV you own. Older Panasonic Smart TVs will have their own app marketplace, where if you own a new Panasonic Smart TV you just head over to the Google Play store.
Depending on how old your Panasonic Smart TV is, will determine how many apps are available for you to use.
Once you’re inside the App marketplace you’ll notice that all of the apps are divided into categories such as featured, music, sports, games, social networks, news, and weather, health and fitness, lifestyle, and kids. The same will be true for Google Play apps, though the categories will be slightly different.
Inside your Panasonic Smart TV, you’ll notice a whole host of different apps (Again, the age of your TV will determine which apps are available). Below I am going to highlight a few that caught my attention on my Panasonic Smart Vierra TV.
- ABC for Kids
- AP
- Tubi TV
- Pluto TV
- Kodi
- Break Comedy
- DailyMotion
- Local Weather
- MLB.tv
- Kylin TV
- PlayJam
- Red Karaoke
- SnagFilms
- Yahoo Cricket
- Skype
- WOWtv
- Web Browser
- Media Player
- Amazon Prime
- Rakuten TV
- TV Guide
- Netflix
- Amazon Prime Video
- FreeviewPlus
- ABC iview
- SBS On Demand
- YouTube
- BigPond Movies
It is only possible to add APPS to your Panasonic Smart TV from the marketplace or Google Play app. You cannot download apps from the internet and just install them on your TV, all the apps filter through the app marketplace.
To access this market, you hit the APPS button on your TV’s remote control and then select market. You’ll then be able to browse all of the available apps on your Panasonic Smart TV. Again, you can only install apps that are found on this marketplace.
My Favourite Panasonic Smart TV Apps
The apps that I use the most on my Panasonic Smart TV are Tubi TV, Pluto TV and the built-in TV Guide.
Pluto TV offers free live TV. This is similar to the TV Guide that’s built right inside your Panasonic Smart TV. It functions as a guide like on Cable or satellite TV and allows you to choose from different live TV stations. The great part is that it’s all free.
TubiTV and TubiKids are also available on most newer Panasonic Smart TVs. TubiTV is similar to the Guide app and Pluto TV, but it offers more programming for kids. Again, this is all free.
The shows on these apps may not be new releases or blockbusters, but the price cannot be beaten. It’s all included in most Panasonic Smart TV app stores.
How Do You Update Apps on Panasonic Smart TV?
It’s easy to update your apps on your Panasonic Smart TV.
First, you want to make sure that your TV is connected to the internet. Then head over to the APPS tab and open the Google Play app.
Inside this app dashboard, you’ll be able to update, install and delete your apps. You can go down to where it says – updates available. If there is an app update, you’ll notice it here. Just click update and let your Panasonic Smart TV do its thing.
You can go to the settings tab and enable auto-update apps. This will ensure that your apps are always up to date.
