Portable power is useful in a variety of situations, such as camping or power outages. When it comes to CPAP machines and being able to use them in any situation, choosing the right portable power is important.

This article explores some of the better options on the market for portable power packs meant for CPAP machines.

Why Do I Want a Portable Power Pack for a CPAP Machine?

CPAP machines are important pieces of equipment. Without them, those who suffer from disorders like sleep apnea are unlikely to sleep well.

Even if they do manage to get what feels like a healthy amount of sleep, they will suffer from sleep disruption and oxygen deprivation. In severe cases, this can actually become life-threatening.

Without a portable power pack, your activities are limited by your need to have a power outlet to plug into. If you’re fond of outdoor activities like camping, backpacking, or boating trips, you’ll want a portable power pack to enable you to continue participating in your favorite activities.

There’s also the issue of emergencies. Power outages can happen to anyone, and the risk increases if you live in an area with severe weather issues.

Heavy snow, rain, high winds, transformer malfunctions, and even extreme temperatures – all of these can cause power outages, and not all of them are easily or quickly fixed.

Emergencies can also occur to strand you in less-than-ideal circumstances when you’re travelling. Having a backup plan in case of emergency circumstances can be critical.

How Do I Judge Which is the Best Portable Power Pack for My CPAP Machine?

Affordability is often a factor in selecting equipment, but not the only thing you need to consider.

Other factors to look at include:

Portability – your power pack should be lightweight and not too large. It should be easy to store and carry.

Charge – Ideally, you want something that can last for a few days. Something with a long-lasting battery or a natural recharge option is a good option.

Compatibility – You need something that works with your machine. Your power pack should support the power needs of the CPAP machine for an extended period of time.

Recharge Capacity – The more methods at your disposal for recharging, the more flexibility you have regarding circumstances.

Device Handling – There’s a high chance you may need to charge more than just your CPAP. Consider what else you’re likely to need access to in the wild or in an emergency situation.

Choosing a Portable Power Pack for My CPAP Machine

It’s important to do your research. However, device specs can give you a general idea of its capabilities, and customer reviews and experiences can give you a general idea of how well a specific device performs.

Look for a portable power station that suits your needs on all levels, and keep in mind what you’re most likely to want it for.

If you’re looking for a purely emergency machine, you might look at the larger, longer-lasting power stations. If you’re looking for something to take on camping or hiking trips, you’ll want to look for a model with a lighter weight.

You also want to look at what other equipment you might need. Does a specific model need adapters? Does it come with charging cords? If you’re looking at solar power charging, do you need to buy a solar panel as well? How much weight, room and expense might any additional equipment take?

If you’re looking for some ideas, listed below are some of our top picks for power stations designed to be used with a CPAP machine.

    VTOMAN Jump 1000

    What I Liked
    • 1404Wh
    • LED Back Light With Strobe
    • Sturdy Construction
    • Lots of Inputs
    • LCD Screen With Useful Details
    • Extention Battery Ability
    What I Didn’t Like
    • Heavy
    • No LED on the Front

This portable power station has so many great features that it’s hard to list them all here. First, it’s a solid unit. It’s heavy, but it feels well-designed and built. You don’t feel like it’s going to fall apart holding it.

It gives you the ability to charge or operate 12 devices simultaneously with a variety of inputs – USB-c, USB 3.0, and regular 120V plugs, and this battery is extendable. This means if you purchase a second battery, you can link them together for even more power.

This battery will run a 40W CPAP machine for 32 hours!

But this isn’t just a great unit for your CPAP machine. It’s also a great portable power station for camping, van life, travel, and so much more.

We did find that this battery is a little heavy, weighing just shy of 40 pounds. So you’ll want to find a place for it, and leave it be.

It’s still our best choice for a portable power station for a CPAP machine.

    Basic Stats:

    12 inputs

It gives you 3100 battery cycles

Recharges to 80% in only 6 hours

    1000W of constant power

LiFePO4 battery – safer, lower self-discharge rate, and longer lifespan.

What Makes it a Top Choice:

    Well constructed battery

    Tons of safety protocols

    Lots of power

Able to extend to a second battery for even more power

    Incredible price

    • Not good for an emergency unit

This isn’t the most expensive unit on the market, and it’s not the cheapest. To be honest, this is a good middle-of-the-road unit that will work perfectly for keeping your CPAP machine working during power outages or a camping trip.

I also like that you have the ability to use 10 devices at one time. Of course, this will significantly drain the portable power station.

I searched the internet to do some research on this portable power station, and most of the reviews that I read were positive. People get frustrated when they try to plug in an appliance or tool that exceeds the 500W limit and it doesn’t work. Aeisuny Portable Solar Generator

When it comes to small and compact, this is the best portable power station on the market. It’s only 7 pounds and is eco-friendly and durable. The Aeisuny Portable Solar Generator isn’t going to be the best choice for emergencies, as far as powering fridges or freezers, but it’s going to work well powering your CPAP machine.

I wanted to add this portable power station to the mix, because it’s great to have in your home in the event of a power outage, and you need to power your CPAP machine for a longer period of time. I know that we normally think that those extreme circumstances would never take place, but it could happen, and you’ll want to be prepared.

This unit is a high-quality pick and is worth your consideration.

It has a ‘Best Features’ rating on some platforms.

    Highly eco-friendly

    Conclusion

Most of these have at least 1 DC port. If they don’t have one, you’ll need an adapter to connect your CPAP machine.

While most of these are solar-power compatible, you’ll probably need to pick up a solar panel separately.

Make sure you keep all your equipment together, including any necessary charging cables and extra attachments.

You may want to invest in a carrying case if the model you choose doesn’t come with one.

These are all great models and one of the listed models above will work great for you.

    Why Trust Our Reviews

Several years ago, I set out on an online journey to find a review on a product that I was going to buy.

After reading several reviews without any real help, I purchased the product.

In the end, the product wasn't what I expected. The frustrating part was I could have saved myself time if I would have read a proper product review.

This is when Better Home + Living began, I set out to create a site with honest, informative product reviews. I put my heart and soul in every review that I write, and give you my honest opinion along the way. No fluff. No Hype. Just the way you need it.
